Arrow In-Game Auction

This is something I would truly love to see added to Guild Wars. (Tried to search but it's disable, sorry if this has been suggested already.)

Much of it would be like the Great Temple of Balthazar. Where there would be several priest type merchants/traders who would hold the items and allow them to be bid on. This could also help with storage issues. I could see it being a nice goldsink as well, where you have to pay a fee to start up an auction account for each character. They could also be divided into sections within a huge city like environment (think Lion's Arch, but all NPC's have flags and signs for what type of auction areas they have) for Weapons - Swords, Weapons - Hammers, Weapons - Axes, even for runes, materials and other items. This may even be able to cut down on scamming.

If this was to be added, along with a mail/postal type system into the game (imagine when your auction expires and you get a in-game mail/message notification like your friendslist) telling you the results.

Feedback, ideas, expansions and more is welcomed!

Love this Idea, would make trading a lot easier and would also help remove the clutter of everyone spamming WTS and WTB in Local AND Trade Chat.

I say insted of having multiple NPC's for weapons and runes and so on, have 1 NPC like the storage NPC, and develop a gui that has all the stuff listed in there and easily browseable.

Other games like EQ and WoW have implemented merchant zones to help players move their wares. The players had to stay logged in and use /merchant command to go into merchant mode. They specified item starting bid price, buyout price, and length of auction (24 hrs max).

This would be a welcomed idea, though it will take a LOT of coding from ANET's side.

/Signed, though you'll see a whole lot of bogus items to be auctioned. Call it auction spam

Actually my reasoning behind that would be to make it perhaps a little easier to find things and avoid overcrowding at certain areas. But if this gets into Guild Wars in any form, it will be a great start.

I think this would be a good idea. Sure, there's the auction here on Guru, but I think something In-Game would be much nicer and proficient.

Another advantage of an in-game merchant zone is that sellers can have their wares available on an in-game search engine. So, if you want to look up "crystalline swords" or "15 > 50" weapons, you could just plug in your search parameters and view only the items that qualify, thereby removing the spam element. If you choose to buy the item, GW can auto-guide you to the player merchant to complete the transaction. Best of all, the seller doesn't even have to be awake for this to happen... so long as his character is in /merchant mode selling the item at a set price.

Both EQ and WoW already do the above, so it is more than possible...

I posted a suggestion similar to this a while back.

This is how the Auction House should work.

Buying
1. You go up to the Auction House (Building), it has 5 windows with one NPC in each.
2. You talk to the Auction House NPC and he gives you a choice to Buy or Sell.
3. You then click an item type.
-Sword
-Hammer
-Horn Bow
-Recurve Bow
-Long Bow
-Flat Bow
-Short Bow
-Axe
-Wand
-Staff
-Focus
-Daggers
-Shields
4. Once you click an item it gives you a few general choices (Ignoring the stats of the item)
-White
-Blue
-Purple
-Gold
-Mod Type #1
-Mod Type #2
5. You click which category you want to browse under.
6. When you decide to buy you click request quote, it gives you the quote of how much the last item with the closest stats was sold for.
7. You place a bid close to the quote, if it fits within the range the Auctioner put the item up for it is then transfered to your inventory.

Selling
1. You go up to the Auction House (Building), it has 5 windows with one NPC in each.
2. You talk to the Auction House NPC and he gives you a choice to Buy or Sell.
3. You then click an item type.
-Sword
-Hammer
-Horn Bow
-Recurve Bow
-Long Bow
-Flat Bow
-Short Bow
-Axe
-Wand
-Staff
-Focus
-Daggers
-Shields
4. Once you click an item it gives you a few choices.
-White
-Blue
-Purple
-Gold
-Mod Type #1
-Mod Type #2
5. You select request quote, to see the amount the last item with the closest stats to yours was sold for.
6. You place the minimum and buy out for your item.
7. When an item is sold there are two ways of procuring your gold.
-A message will pop up saying that you have made a sale, the gold is then transfered to your storage. (You may disable message pop up)
-A message will pop up saying that you have made a sale, but your storage gold limit is at its max. (You may not disable this message pop up) In this case you would go to an auction house NPC and a special option saying obtain gold will be clickable. For every 24 hours it takes you to obtain the gold it experiences a 5% reduction.

/signed, on one condition - ANet get some devs to COMPLETELY BAN anyone trying to sell items via other means after it's implementation, following a warning.

no... Normal Trading shall continue as it currently does, some people may not have the cash to put items up on the auction. and if people couldn't sell by other means then it would render the trade channel useless.

it'll cut the spam down by a lot cause you can throw your item up on the auction house and go out and do other stuff insted of standing in a city spamming the same message for 4 hours.

/signed its a good idea.. i do have some probs with the suggestions though:

why let the player choose the item type to sell etc etc (as in nevins post) all the stats of the weapons are stored somewhere so it can be displayed jus let the npc take the name eg. Zealous Fellblade of Soul Slaying and put that as the title, that way theres less chance that the system could be abused, otherwise u'll get lots of people putting them in the wrong category a la suprnova..

jus out of curiosity wat is the storage limit?? 999p 999g?

there shouldnt be a depriciation in price, if it needs to be made more realistic jus make the npc take a small % of the final price, or pay to post items, other then that nothing should come between u and ur money

also there shouldnt be a request quote function, seems pointless imo it jus wouldnt be accurate because the combinations are too great and one different mod could make a large change in price.

also if its bidding does this mean waking up in the middle of the nite to snipe the high bidder at the last second, dont like it personally prefer jus to buy it for the price that the buyer wants or have 2 sections so items can be sold for a price.

People, do you read interviews? They had said about a billion times there will be an auction house.

But no details on it aside from that, from what I have seen. (Though I may have missed the screencaps)

At least this post has expansions on what to have for an auction area. Come now, think positive.

You just have to read a little bit further up to see that is realised (see my earlier post) - so back at you

That said they have priorities if something is obviously way more popular then it obviously moves up the food chain.
